Words don’t come easy is a series of works prompted by memories and stories- of people, titles of books, songs, idioms.
Based on the idea of talismans (objects that contain magical powers and luck), and narrative jewellery, each piece is inspired by a story about one of my friends/family/people that I have met who have shared their unique story. As a piece of narrative jewellery when it is worn by someone else, like a story it gets passed on and becomes part of someone else’s identity and unique story. The object is embued with a new life, new stories and memories but also retains traces of it’s past.
These pieces are made from handmade, recycled magazine paper beads, sterling silver, wooden hand-painted beads, text and images from kept and collected encyclopedias and books.
